Furs on Film – Fatal Temptation (1988)

Some strain to call this a late giallo, and others disagree. I am in the latter camp. I think this makes it to the level of “spaghetti erotic thriller,” though the thrills are minimal, and the nudity is maximal. Which is ironic considering the subject of this review. Have I made an Errore fatale? Ask the Italians how that works out to “Fatal Temptation” in English, I just work here, man.

Fatal Temptation – The Film

Philandering Italians walk at leisurely paces from cars to various locations. No, seriously, there’s a ton of this kind of shot in the film, which I assume is because they didn’t have the budget to do driving scenes to pad the movie like any self-respecting schlock. Oh, and the pretty lady murders people; I guess that stuff happens eventually, too.

Fatal Temptation – The Furs

The pretty lady is named Silvia (Loredana Romito), and this film is adept at showing her both fully clothed and not-so-fully clothed. She opens the movie in the least common of her coats, a blush mink, which is introduced when she… gets out of a car to walk to a party.

The biggest and best first appears shortly after, this silver fox stroller-length coat. It is, appropriately, given the most screen time of Silvia’s furs. The first appearance on the beach is quick, but it gets more attention once the plot gets underway, around 20 minutes in.

Silvia then spends the rest of the film bouncing between furs (and her boyfriend), the last of which is this full-length sable. I presume renting this coat is why they could not afford to film anything but people walking between cars and houses.

Silva wears the silver fox when she catches her husband expediting his recovery from his recent car wreck with some physical exercises with a pretty blond.

The sable returns for one of the times Silvia also engages in some extracurricular activities with her side piece, who is, I shit you not, the guy who caused her husband to wreck his car, because sure, why not?

The movie has almost 10 minutes of fur, most of which is split between the silver fox and the sable. That’s some quality fur-watching time. And, of course, if you desperately want to know what Loredana Romito, among others, looks like without any clothes, the movie has you (un?)covered there. With a ratio of just over 10%, it’s a pretty good deal as crappy Eurosleaze thrillers go.
