Were this actually a movie from 1985, this scene would only get a short, which I should mention exists should anyone only be reading this blog and not following the linked socials. But it is not from 1985; it is simply set there, and thus we have “The Greatest (only, so far) Fur Fashion Movie of 2024:” MaXXXine.

MaXXXine – Fur Fashion Gallery
Basically, we get about one minute of singer Halsey in the role of title character Maxine’s best friend, Tabby, wearing a real blue fox fur stroller coat. The blue fox coat is on screen for just over 1 minute, easily securing a position as the top fur fashion movie of 2024. I could have done without that hairstyle, but beggars can’t be choosers in this case.
The blue fox in MaXXXine ticks a few boxes. First, adjacent to the “hookers wear fur” trope, and second, director Ty West suggested various giallos inspire the film. Whether the somewhat common appearance of fur in giallo films is part of the “homage” or just the film’s fashion designer remembering it was set in 1985, it’s an interesting connection.
Was MaXXXine a good homage to giallo? No, not really. It needed way more blood, boobs, and blue fox.
