1971, back when the worst thing about TV news was sleeping your way to the top. The Love Machine is based on a book of the same name by Jacqueline Susann, so I guess technically it’s still fake news. The movie is about a dude building his resume in bed; thus, we won’t be paying much attention to him.

The two characters with the most wardrobe variety are Judith (Dyan Cannon) and Ethel (Maureen Arthur). Judith is the top in the “sleep to the top” scheme, and Ethel is just the flip side of the coin, though she doesn’t get anywhere.

This film features an interesting variety of coats, riding astride the 60s and 70s aesthetic with sleek minks and spotted coats alongside thick white fox and plush sheepskin-trimmed coats.
