Decided to cover an underground gem from the mid-90s that most people will be surprised to learn has a lot of fur fashion. Also decided to see how many readers could pick up on sarcasm. Yes, it’s Casino, the film that associated Sharon Stone with “chinchilla” in certain circles. It’s also the ‘90s, so it only got furs because it was a period piece. Tip of the blue fox fedora to all auteurs who demand authenticity in their cinematic exploration of decades past. Also, see Ridley Scott.
Casino – The Film
This is a dramatization of a book about a guy who runs *checks notes* a casino. Well, who could have predicted that? Unlike many films featured here, this one is considered “good.” Sharon Stone received awards for her performance, though her furs were not nominated, sadly.
Casino – The Furs

Sharon Stone isn’t the only cast member wearing fur, but we will focus on her. Fortunately, you do not have to wait too long to see her show up in a white mink coat.
Ginger catches the eye of Casino boss Sam, and they get together. Sam showers Ginger with gifts, including a rather expensive full-length chinchilla coat. The “rather expensive” and “chinchilla” is redundant.

She starts an affair with Sam’s buddy Nicky because “mafia flick” and is caught (briefly) on surveillance in a black fox-trimmed coat. Of course, the black fur shows up at night; even Scorsese can’t resist this stupidity.

Because this is a mafia movie and not a rom-com, things don’t really work out for Sam and Ginger. Ginger plots to kill Sam, and he kicks her out. This time she takes the blush fox fur stroller with her.
Casino delivers about seven minutes of fur, which would make for a decent ratio in a movie that wasn’t seventy hours. The “weak” 4% is still a “recommend.” It’s prime Sharon Stone in top-quality fur fashion. If you don’t have time to sit through it, just do what I did and smash that fast-forward button. If you’ve watched a Youtube video lately, you’ll certainly know all about smashing buttons.
