We return to the warm, if regularly stabby, embrace of giallo with Plot of Fear. This helping of cinematic murder pasta has the right combination of classic giallo plot elements, rich people, and models to make for a decent way to spend an hour and a half.

Plot of Fear – The Film

Mustachioed Italian cop investigates a series of murders of wealthy jerks. The only clue is pages from a German children’s book containing a series of stories with moral lessons. What matters is one of his main witnesses and soon-to-be-girlfriend, a model who dresses the part. 

Plot of Fear – The Furs

Meet Jeanne (Corinne Cléry), our investigation’s primary person of interest. Jeanne brings three different furs to the film, two of which we get a great look at. The first is this coyote jacket, worn during an extended interview sequence with an over-the-wall trespassing. Which is only a brief break before the characters engage in a “walk and talk” that would make Aaron Sorkin proud.

Up next is this short-haired “knit” fur that is a little too avant-garde for my tastes. It appears in another long sequence involving more walk-and-talk expository dialog. In fairness, the last one does end with Jeanne shooting someone.

On to the “last” fur, which isn’t technically the last you’ll see on screen. Sadly, this full-length lynx coat is also the one you will see the least on screen. Amusingly, it is seen in two flashbacks while she is wearing the other furs during the aforementioned “walk and talks.” It is both amazing and ultimately disappointing that it is not seen for long.

A few other furs in the film are briefly seen during an earlier sequence at the police station. They are worn, of course, by some hookers. The grand total comes to about seven minutes even, which results in a reasonably decent 7.21% on the runtime clock. French actress Corinne Cléry wears them all well. Again, the lynx is probably about 1% of it, but boy is that an excellent 1%.
